Ilan Rubin (San Diego, California, 1988) started playing drums when he was eight years old, when he discovered his Father's 1968 Silver Sparkle Ludwig drum kit set up in the garage. After three months he had taught himself to play and vegan jamming with his older brothers.



By the age of nine Ilan was ready to play for punkpop outfit FoN, a band that eventually would do three stints on the Vans Warped Tour.



There, in addition to playing with FoN, Ilan Rubin would fill-in on drums with other bands including NOFX. In 1999, FoN opened Woodstock on the "Emerging Artist Stage" and, as a result, 11-year-old Ilan gained entry into the Guiness Book of World Records as the youngest musician to ever play on a Woodstock stage.



That same year he submitted a video to Modern Drummer Magazine, featuring one of his solos during an FoN performance. It was selected by the magazine as the winning entry in its "Best Undiscovered Drummer Under the Age of 18" contest, and Ilan was invited to perform at the 2000 Modern Drummer Festival. At that time Ilan was only twelve years old.



Ilan Rubin has had three instructors. He has received lessons from Travis Barker of Blink182. Ilan Rubin reveils:

"He has been getting me into rudiments and reading but, because of Blink's busy schedule, I haven't been able to take lessons on a regular basis."

Rubin names John Bonham, Travis Barker, Max Weinberg, Stewart Copeland, Danny Carrey, Louie Belson, Buddy Rich, and Joe Morello as musical influences.



In 2006 Ilan Rubin joined Welsh group Lostprophets, replacing founding member and original drummer Mike Chiplin, who quit the band in June 2005.



Prior to working with Lostprophets, Ilan was the drummer for the band Denver Harbor, which also included his older brother Aaron.



During Lostprophet's downtime Ilan started a side project dubbed The New Regime. Its debut album, 'Coup', was released in November 2008.



Early 2009 Ilan Rubin also joined Nine Inch Nails as their touring drummer, replacing session drummer Josh Freese.
