Ian Mosley (London, 1953) plays drums in Marillion. He replaced initial drummer Mick Pointer in 1984. Prior to joining Marillion, Ian had toured extensively with ex-Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett, as well as appearing on several of Steve's solo albums. Ian has also worked with many other artists such as the Gordon Giltrap Band, Manfred Mann, Darryl Way's Wolf, Trace
Before joining the world of rock-and-roll, Ian Mosley played in the orchestra for "Hair" and developed a distinct hatred for Andrew Lloyd Webber, playing drums for "Jesus Christ Superstar" in London's West End.
Ian has released a solo album, "Postmankind", in collaboration with saxophonist Ben Castle in 2001. The album also features performances by other Marillo's Pete Trewavas and Steve Rothery.
In 1996, Ian Mosley teamed up with French guitarist Sylvain Gouvernaire to form the band Iris (also featuring Pete Trewavas on bass) to record the instrumental album "Crossing the Desert".
