Gonzo Sandoval was drummer with metal outfit Armored Saint from 1982 until 1993, when the group disbanded.



In 1999, with Anthrax on temporary hiatus, vocalist John Bush and bassist Joey Vera decided to reform Armored Saint. Gonzo Sandoval rejoined the group as their drummer again and has been with the band ever since.
