Houwer is a good last name for Gerben: in Dutch "houwer" means something like "someone who chops" in English.



Gerben Houwer has been delivering drums and vocals in We vs. Death since he spotted their 'drummer wanted'-note.



Gerben was also spotted playing with Owners Manual, Vladimir, Audiotransparent, Stellenbosch, and has a side project dubbed The Fire Harvest.



2006 saw Gerben Houwer and We vs. Death team up with Canadian group Great Lake Swimmers for their European tour. Gerben joined Great Lake Swimmers as well during this series of gigs.



Gerben Houwer is also founder and CEO of underground label Zabel Muziek. The label became inactive in June 2007.
