Garrett Goodwin plays drums with Carrie Underwood. He has also performed with By the Tree, Jeff Deyo and ZOEgirl.





Garrett Goodwin's biography, in his own words:

I was born in Maine, this is where all my family is from, my amazing parents (which you will hear more about later) moved me from Maine as soon as I was born to Steamboat Colorado. An amazing place! from about 2 years old to 6 years old I was out skiing, snowboarding, or snowmobiling everyday of my life! It was amazing! My parents own campgrounds, so we sold the one in Colorado and moved to Branson Missouri. They bought a campground right on a lake, and for the next year of my life we lived on the lake. Then about a year later they bought a campground in Gulf Breeze Fl. right on the ocean. it was awesome! My favorite place to live! I would move back there tomorrow.



This is where I started playing the drums. I got my first kit around 11 years old and just went for it. Never got lessons, just watched and learned. Started playing in my children’s church when i was 12, then moved up to the main church. I got to meet alot of great people and mentored by great Nashville musicians…Gary Lunn, Steve Brewster, Scott Williamson, Glen Pierce, Dwayne Larring, Lois Santiago Jr., Mike Childers and Mark Childers, killer guys throughout the years its been an awesome experience being on about 7 records and and meeting alot of great guys.



About 3 years ago I moved to Nashville with lindell cooley to help him start a church. For about a year i played every sun. with him and

traveled during the week with him. Gary Lunn (bass player) and Glen Pierce (Guitar) traveled alot as well.

About a year into I started meeting alot more people in Nashville…more band guys…



I got a gig with jeff deyo for about 6 months traveled with him, as I was still trying to do the church thing and some studio stuff. so I decided that the Jeff deyo band was not what I was looking for. I played with rita springer for a while after and Zoegirl, and i stil do some fill in dates for Zoegirl.



Well about a 2 years ago I ran into the guys from By The Tree, (a christian band) I had met them years before. they we’re looking or a

drummer for the summer, so I said ok, I would love too! The lead singer (Chuck Denny) at the time was just getting married and took a

couple months off from the road, so drummer Aaron Blanton became frontman for the summer and I hopped on the drums. we had an amazing summer and hated when it was over. So Chuck came back for about a month and decided he was not feeling the road thing anymore…so the guys came back to me and said offered me the job as a full time gig, I went for it.
