Erik Thyselius started playing drums at age seventeen. He started a band with a couple of friends that ended in the band Arize. The members split up in two different directions, the vocalist and bass player started Lingua, Erik and the two guitarists started Construcdead. Erik: “After a couple of month of searching for members we found bass player Joakim Harju (Face Down, now Hedestedt) and vocals Jonas Sandberg. In 2001, after 4 demos, we recorded Construcdead´s debut album "Repent" in Studio Unerground in Västerås, Sweden. It was released via recordlabel Cold Records. I did eleven tracks in two and a half days. The result as far as an finished product were great, and even after almost six years since its release I´m still proud of the work I did and can find the record very fresh.”



Late 2001 Erik Thyselius did a guest recording for General Surgery. They recorded "Empathological Necroticism" for the record Requiems of Revulsion, a tribute to Carcass (Necropolis Records). Erik: “It was fun to try something new and it opened my eyes for new ways of playing drums. In 2002 a very good friend of mine, Henry Ranta, left Terror 2000 and my friend Björn Strid (Soilwork) asked me to join, so I did. We recorded the second Terror 2000 album "Faster Disaster", released through Italian label Scarlet Records. Terror 2000 contains membes of Soilwork, Darkane, Construcdead. It’s a side project in which we get to express the music we can´t play in our other bands.”



Erik Thyselius did his first Japan tour in the summer of 2002 with Construcdead. Erik: “”That was the coolest experience of my life. It was one of those things that I will never forget. The people were awesome, not just in the venues but also on fan meetings and interviews as well. I have never felt more proud of my music than I do when I´ve been to Japan, the people there are so committed to the band.”



2003 started out even better as Erik recorded the second Construcdead album "Violadead" (Black Lodge 2003) in late April, in Queenstreet Studio in Helsingborg, Sweden, with his good friend Peter Wichers. Erik: “It went awesome and the result turned out great. One week after the recording Terror 2000 went to Japan, so I had to start rehearsing thoose songs the day after the recording. We flew to Japan and did three even greater show than the year before with Construcdead. The crowd were crazy every night and we had a blast. We got to meet some really cool people as well such as the jackass guys Murderdolls.”



The last gig was recorded and released through Scarlet Records as a live cd called "Slaughter In Japan Live".



All through 2004 Construcdead struggled with trying to find live gigs and member shifting, so the band concentrated on writing songs for a cd and a ep. They ended up recording, with Jocke Skog, the Ep "Wounded", (Black Lodge Records 2004) in the Meshuggah & Clawfinger studio FAL Studio in Spånga, Sweden. Recalls Erik: “It was very cool to meet Thomas Haake for the first time in private and all he said to me was, "play faster", and laughed.” Face Down reunited after five years. Joakim, who left Construcdead in 2004, asked Erik and he gladly accepted the task, so a new Face Down was created. They recorded "Demo 2004" in Offbeat Studio in Spånga Sweden.



2005 was the busiest year for Erik Thyselius so far: “I had so much to do, it started in March when I recorded the third Terror 2000 album "Terror for Sale" in Helsingborg, Sweden (Scarlet Records 2005). The recording was a blast and I really did one of my best recordings ever.” Shortley after that in April, Erik recorded the third Construcdead record, “The Grand Machinery” (Black Lodge Records 2005), in FAL studio once again with Jocke Skog.



Directly after the recording Face Down followed performances at two big festivals in Sweden, Decibel and the famous Sweden Rock. The gig at Sweden Rock Festival was recorded and ended up as a extra dvd on the Face Down record "The Will To Power" (Black Lodge Records 2005). Erik recorded it in July, also in FAL studio with Jocke Skog. Commetns the drummer: “It was a new experience for me to do this record. It demanded more of me than no other recording ever had, I had to focus more on the tightness and the result was awesome, I´m very proud of my work on TWTP.”



Erik Thyselius embarked on his first big tour in October with Construcdead, supporting Soilwork across Europe. Only four days after he returned home, they did two release shows for the Face Down record, one in Sweden and one in London. Continues Erik: “After a busy year my first son William was born in December 2005 so I took a break for two months. 2006 was also pretty quiet. I played a couple of shows and then I parted ways with both Face Down and Construcdead during the year. I just took some time to be with my family.”



2007 is a good year for Erik Thyselius. He started playing drums again with his new band Scarpoint. The group is currently looking for a record deal. He also has some projects coming up and hopefully a new record with Terror 2000.



Erik Thyselius is using Pearl Master Custom Series 10", 12", 14", 16" & 22", Pearl Hardware, Turkish Cymbals, and Pro-Mark 5A sticks.



Erik names Vinnie Colaiuta, Morgan Ågren, and Joey Jordison as favourite drummers.
