Dean Butterworth was born on September 27th 1966 in Rochdale, England. He moved to America at age 10 and started learning to play the drums at age 13.





Dean Butterworth (1966) has been playing drums since he was 12 years old. His first influences were Elvis, Buddy Holly & Roy Orbision, but his tastes have changed now that he is older.



During the early years Dean focused on the intricacies of jazz and fusion drumming, but after experiencing the chameleon-like way in which Stewart Copeland of The Police switched fluidly from one style to another, often within the same song, he began to branch out into many different styles.



Dean Butterworth has worked with Ben Harper, John Lee Hooker, Buckcherry, Liz Phair, IV Xample, Morrissey, Good Charlotte, The Used, John Lee Hooker, Nancy Sinatra, Hilary Duff, Missy Higgins, Goldfinger, Kellie Price, Kevin Martin of Candlebox, Luis Fonsi, Medeiros, Gene Simmons of KISS, Jack Johnson, G. Love and tons more.



Dean Butterworth joined the Innocent Criminals, supporting Ben Harper, in February 1997, at the end of the Fight For Your Mind tour. He made his debut appearance on drums in a private show at the Coach House - San Juan Capistrano, CA. Rock Deadrick played percussion. Dean Butterworth is drummer on two records : The Will To Live (1997) and Burn To Shine (1999). He left the band after a last concert at the RIMAC Field, UCSD - La Jolla, CA on May 28, 2001.



Dean Butterworth backed up Morrissey on his seventh studio-album called "You Are The Quarry" (May 2004), and was featured on Admiral Freebee's 2005 album "Songs".



The musicians recording Morrissey's 2006 album "Ringleader of the Tormentors", included Matt Chamberlain on drums. Previsou sticksman Dean Butterworth had decided to continue drumming for Good Charlotte.
