Daniel Patriasz, born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, grew up in a musical family and started playing music at the age of nine. Almost straight away he took to jazzmusic and wanted to learn to play drums. He started playing with bands at a very young age.
Later Daniel Patriasz got interested in Latin American music and he devoted all his musical energy to studying and playing just that. He has now been playing Salsa and Latin Jazz with a great variety of musicians and bands for the past 15 years. Since most of the musical members of Daniel’s family are singers, he to has started to sing and is currently preparing a CD as a singer with the help of the Cuban composer/ arranger and musician Jesus Hernandez Diaz.
Daniel Patriasz has studied with (alfabetical order) Claus Tofft, Gerardo Rosales, José Avila, Lucas van Merwijk and Nicky Marrero.
He has played and/or sung with (alfabetical order) Azucaraba, Delia González y su Tumbao, Descarga Latina, Gerardo Rosales y su Trabucombo (also with Marco Toro Bernal), Javier Plaza y Orquesta Sonrisa, Orquesta Yacambu (lead by Felipe ‘Mandingo’ Rengifo), Puerto Cha Cha, Ritmica 93, Rumbatá, Santanico and Saoco.
