Christian Gripp (Elmshorn, Germany, 1972) is known as drummer with German metallers Torment, Motörment, Powerslave, Ramones Mania, Meat Shop, Crystal Shark, Dice, 6 Pistolen, Cheers, Message, Murphys On The Moon and Röhr.
Chris Gripp also joined power metallers Paragon in August 2005, replacing drummer Markus "Big M" Corby who was forced to quit due to serious problems with his left arm.
Cris Gripp joined legendary 80's thrashers Torment in 2004 right in time to celebrate the band's 20th anniversary. They recorded the album "Tormentation" and went on European-tour just after the release in 2005.
Early in 2005, the guys from Paragon were looking for a new drummer to turn their music to more heavy and aggressive. When they saw Chris play with Torment, they asked him to join them, not only because Paragon also took part in the upcoming tour with Torment. Right after the tour, Chris became a steady member of Paragon.
Chris Gripp was immediately infected by Dixon Drums when he played them for the first time in 2007. He now calls a big MBS doublebass-set his own; you can hear it on Paragon's latest EP "Larger Than Life" as well as on their upcoming ninth Album "Screenslaves", which will be released in October/November 2008 via Massacre Records.
Although being occupied with Torment and Paragon, Chris Gripp spends most of his remaining time honouring some of his idols with his tribute-bands Powerslave and Motorment. Check out the band websites for their upcoming schedules!
Chris Gripp started playing drums at age 15. He received lessons for a few months in the early 90s at the “Yamaha Music Station” in Hamburg.
Inspired by 80s Metal like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, Gripp has learned to play drums fast. Asked for his future plans, Gripp answers: "I want to play even faster!"
