Bertram Engel has characterized German rock music for more than 30 years - both as a drummer as well as a singer, songwriter and producer.
Born in 1957 in Burgsteinfurt near Münster, Bertram Enge started making music as a small boy of only eight years due to the early death of his father.
After finishing school Bertram Enge led his way to Munster, to attend the Academy of Music studying classical music with drums and piano as subjects too. He became influenced by various artists such as Ringo Starr (Beatles), Nigel Olsson (Elton John), Jamie Oldaker (Eric Clapton), Phil Rudd (ACDC) and Mickey Curry (Bryan Adams).
Only 17 years old Bertram Enge released his first album "Brothers angel", together with his older brother Thomas. Producer and "father" of the project was Steffi Stephan, bassist from Udo Lindenberg's Panikorchestra.
Via Steffi Bertram got in contact with Udo, who during the year-long abscence of his regular drummer Keith Forsey immediately recruited the young talent for his Galaxo-course Tour in 1976.
Artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Eric Burdon, Robert Palmer, Jimmy Barnes and Chris Thompson, to name just a few, ask Bertram Engel for their projects and tours as well.
