Alun Harries is a session drummer based in London, UK. He has worked with BeeGees, Tori Amos, Sax Appeal, System X, NYJO, LJO, Welsh Symphony Orch, Phil Pope, [Fast Show], Lauren Field, Melinda Lightfoot, Anita Carmichael, and was featured on many TV broadcasts, and festivals like Montreux, Minden, Seville, Ealing , Soho.
In 1975 Alun Harries took up the drums in school, formed a pop band Sapphire and toured most clubs in South Wales. That year he took his first drum lessons, played clubs, cabaret and his first Big Band.
In 1985 Alun Harries studied at Berklee College of Music. He studied with Ed Uribe, Skip Hadden, Jim Hunt, Jaco Pastorius, and played in the college Studio recording Big Band and also the Jingle band with Bob Friedman.
Alun Harries has been a jazz musician for three decades and works as a teacher and clinician.
In 2003 Alun supported Haracio 'El Negro' Hernandez on his London clinic. He recorded BBC TVs My Hero, The Fast Show Farewell DVD and a number of TV movies for Phil Pope. Alun recorded a jazz album for Lauren Field and Melinda Lightfoot. He was featured in Blues Matters, Jazz Wise, Songlink Int and Berklee Today magazines, he did his first drum clinic and teaching in Norway and recieved an endorses kit from Pearl.
Currently - in 2005 - Alun Harries is studying for a Degree in Music at the ACM, composing, singing and playing on my first solo album. A live TV and concert for the URDD in Cardiff, more playing, and just off to Norway (again) to teach.
