Alex Bernath was born in Mannheim, Germany in 1986. He started playing drums at age six.
In 1997, he was then a student at the School of Music of Mannheim, where he played in the big band Jazz 4 Fun, as well as the Mannheim Bläserphilharmonie orchestra.
With the Mannheim Bläserphilharmonie Alex took part in the World Music Contest in Kerkrade, The Netherlands in202, and in the International Festival of brass bands in Prague in 2006, where the orchestra was awarded the first prize in each.
In addition, a half-week tour of China with numerous concerts was made in 2004.
Between 2002-2008 Alex Bernath was drummer for Mannheim-based funk band Space Combo.
Between 2003-2005 he took private lessons with Marco block (independent) and Thomas Lui Ludwig (Julee Cruise).
After getting a bachelor's degree at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Alex Bernath started teaching drums for a couple of years.
Since January 2009, Alex Bernath has been drummer and musical director in the Jamal Thomas Band.
At the same time Ales has worked as band leader of the international Hip Hop act L4, hip hop/funk live act HIDO, and has been drumming with Jon Tarifa, Boogie Phil and the Rhythm Devils, and Susanne Alt.
