...More like "Numbers" 2010, as these parts were implemented around then, heh. My purpose behind constructing this was simply because I no longer have the Pro Tools session from the original "Numbers" interpretation, and I had received numerous inquiries as to why I did not offer the iso drum movie out of my web store. Also, revisiting this gave me an excuse to produce an H2P lesson, which will be posted soon in preview format along with another H2P preview!
The same notes from the original video apply to this one, excluding the audio being mixed by Taylor. Not many folks know this, but the original video -- as well as the "Machines" playalong -- were supplemented/blended with samples, two of the very few videos from my home studio to receive this treatment. The reasoning is multi-faceted: Taylor and I wanted to make a big impression on the SEA guys, and Taylor had not mixed in my room before and wanted to ensure that it would sound awesome (samples are a way to 'play it safe' at times). This video is unique from the other in that regard, as the drums are 'natural'.
I've been trying to export this all day but my laptop was not cooperating. "Numbers" 2012 would've been a much more epic title!
Also, this video marks the debut of my 14" DRK hi-hats as well as my new 19" LTD chinese. I finally cracked my old prototype back in September, and TRX had long been manufacturing the 19" size as a standard model. The overall timbre is there, although it is a tad higher in pitch. This is perfect however, as I still use the older china (you can't hear the 'sizzle' in the crack just yet) here and there and the new one for heavier stuff, generally.
Finally, please don't view this video as some sort of device to spur interest in SEA; we are still very much on hiatus. Thanks anyway.
