As musical director for Mary J. Blige and drummer for the hit show American Idol, it's pretty obvious Rex Hardy is Obsessed with music production. So much so that he's turned the whole bottom floor of his house into a recording studio. But Rex doesn't want to be known as a producer who plays drums or a drummer who produces. He wants to be known as a producer who produces - and a drummer who plays drums.
Rex is also Obsessed with family. How Obsessed? Well, his mother lives in the house next door, his sister lives on the other side of his mother, and his grandmother lives across the street. Rex wouldn't have it any other way.
His favourite cymbal? Well, Rex is definitely Obsessed with his 18" HHX Evolution O-Zone Crash. He uses it on every set - in fact, you'll never see him play without it. For Rex, it's a China, a Crash and an Effects cymbal all at the same time - and it works for any style of music. And when you have to learn 45 songs in one hour on the set of Amercian Idol, that's important!
