At Tycoon Percussion, the most prominent new for 2015 are the Fantasy Boa Series. They look and feel like snake skin, but still sound amazing. While not done for the first time, you have to admit it looks pretty cool, those acrylic timbales. A whole new look that also sounds very different from the classic steel timbales. With a dryer sound they still cut through with a distinct own voice. Last big surprise is the Triple Plate Cajon. Yes, three-sided Cajons with two holes in the back. Snare on or off, you pick your desired sound without changing instrument. All the new is in the video.
Fantasy Boa Series
While 'just' a new finish, the sound has a nasty bite that works in any musical setting. Available in all conga sizes, bongo, djembe and cajon.
Acrylic Timbales
Acrylic timbales expand the tones and ranges usually produced by traditional steel timbales. The shells are available in standard depth (6.5" tall), deep-shell (8.5" tall) and extradeep shell (10" tall).
Triple Plate Cajon
This all-in-one cajon has three distinct playing surfaces each producing different sounds.
1. The front (middle) playing surface is constructed of premium Beech Wood and features no screws. This playing surface is designed to play 3 sounds in itself, with the top left and right sides playing as a bongo cajon and the lower portion playing the bass of a conga cajon
2. The playing surface on the left side features Dark Ebony and is equipped with snares to play and sound like most of our Tycoon's traditional cajons
3. The right features a Red Oak front plate with no snare. It plays like the Criollo Cajon with a traditional Peruvian sound and feel
The 35cm playing surfaces make this drum the same size as the others in the Tycoon 35 Series cajons. But they are available in both 29 and 35 Series. Carrying bags and stand are additional options.
