At Winter NAMM 2017 Remo showed the expanded Symmetry Conga drumhead line with a Low Collar height for the LP Compact Conga and Congas with the X-rims, and Pearl's Travel Congas and Congas with Easyplay rims.
The Remo Rhythm Lid Controlled Sound Snare Kit was actually introduced in October 2016, but at Winter NAMM 2017 in California, the official introduction for the bucket drum was during the Remo press conference. The idea is one of Remo Belli himself, and pretty simple: with a Controlled Sound Clear drumhead and a snare clip you can easily turn a regular sized gallon pail into a drum. A great sounding drum as well. And if you think it is too loud, you just use one of the comfort sound technology drumheads Remo has.
Bob Yerby, Vice President Sales & Marketing at Remo, demos and gives the complete background of this neat invention. Including the story of how Remo Belli came up with the idea to create a drumhead for a bucket when he travelled to Peru. The goal of making it as simple and easy as possible to get people into drumming is pretty much reached with these drums. Most hardware stores carry buckets that are compatible with the Rhythm Lid drumhead.
