Lars Nijman - Mark Lettieri - Extraspecial (Cover)

Hey everyone,
This SundaySession video is a cover of Mark Lettieri's (guitar player of Snarky Puppy) "Extraspecial". Definitely the most intense song we recorded during the session a couple of weeks ago and that is for a number of reasons. The first reason is because the song is in a relatively slow tempo, which means that a tiny mistake in the groove is immediately noticeable. The second reason is because there had to be a very clear outline between the sections in terms of dynamics and the "intensity" of sound. By removing or adding some elements in the groove we could make the song spicy or seriously nothing at all. We realized this while we rehearsed the song and it took about four takes during the session before we started to "feel" the song. This video is all recorded in one take and no edits have been made.
