For the documentary project «Changing Time», Jojo Mayer met up with Dr Salvatore Celi, a drummer from NYC who moved to Switzerland to become a music therapist and has known Mayer ever since he was a teenager.
Celi works with war-traumatized children and has real-life stories to tell that outstrip nightmares. According to Celi, the drum is often the last means of communication between him and the traumatized kids. The archaic communicative aspect of drumming is an issue Jojo Mayer is very much interested in â not least because he seeks to figure out his own connection to the instrument heâs been playing all his life.
