At NAMM 2014, Kelly Brady, who is in charge of the Brady Drum company, shows the new Baritone snares, which have stave shells but are spun on a lathe. The external area under the tube lugs is reduced in thickness. This lowers the pitch of the drum in comparison with a drum with a consistently thick shell.
