Journalists from over 100 music trade magazines from around the world recently chose the best products of the musical instrument and professional audio industry for the 16th Musikmesse International Press Award (MIPA). The MIPA winners 2015 in more than forty categories were awarded at the Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound show in Frankfurt, Germany.
These are the 2015 winning drum and percussion products:
Acoustic drums Gretsch USA Broadkaster Drums won a MIPA award as best acoustic drums. Also nominated were Ludwig's Legacy Mahogany drums, and the Sonor Vintage Series.
Cymbals The Istanbul Mehmet Tony Williams Tribute Cymbals were named best cymbals. Also nominated for a MIPA award were Meinl's Byzance Extra Dry Dual cymbals, and Zildjian's Kerope Medium cymbals.
Drum accessories The DW Machined Direct Drive Pedals won in the category drum accessories. The Evans Reso 7 drum heads and Remo Powerstroke 77 snaredrum heads were also nominated for an award.
Electronic drums The NFUZD NSPIRE electronic drum system was voted as best electronic drums, beating Roland's double nomination of their RT-30 triggers and TD-1KV V-Drums.
Percussion instrument In the category percussion instrument, it was the Meinl Mountable Snare Cajon that won a MIPA award. Also nominated: the Gon Bops Commuter Cajon, and the Pearl Mach 3 Cajon.
About the MIPA Awards Every year on the occasion of the Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound, music trade journalists from all over the globe choose the best products of the musical instrument and professional audio industry for the Musikmesse International Press Award. Over the years, the MIPA has developed into the 'Grammy' of the musical instrument and professional audio sectors.
The awards are presented to the winners for outstanding products in a grand evening event with hundreds of representatives of international manufacturers and distributors.
