Being a drummer or percussionist you're part of a global family. That became clear as a cowbell at Latin Percussion's NAMM 2013 booth. During the entire music trade show, LP's booth was packed with friendly folks having a good time, checking out the new gear and jamming instantly whenever they had the chance. And there were plenty of new instruments to discover. LP debuted with six new additions to their Brazilian drum range, Durian Wood congas and bongos, Heritage Series Cuban cowbells, and an adjustable snare cajon plus cajon castanets to provide an accompaniment. LP's Sound Platform for conga, Jingle Kick, Guicharo and Foot Tambourine also made their debut at the Winter NAMM 2013 Show.

LP Wood Timbau LP's new Wood Timbau features a 35 inch inverted conical shell with a lacquered natural wood finish. The timbau is top-tuning, with eight lugs, a 14 inch synthetic head and a non-slip rubber bottom. It has a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $400.
LP Tan Tan and Rebolo Providing a solid bass sound in smaller settings, the LP Tan Tan has a 27 ½ inch lacquered natural wood shell, a traditional hook-tuning system and non-slip rubber bottom. The 14 inch dual-layer synthetic naugahyde drum head is designed to reduce overtones. The MSRP is set at $349. The 18 inch LP Rebolo is a smaller version of the Tan Tan and ideal as an off-beat accompaniment to its larger cousin with an MSRP of $289.
LP Chocalhos A staple in Samba music, LP Chocalhos are jingle sticks made of galvanized aluminum affixed to a lightweight aluminum frame, available in two sizes with a MSRP of $99 and $109 respectively.
LP Brass Cuica LP new Brass Cuica features an 8x10 ½ inch brass shell with goatskin head and machined hardware with a top-tuning design. The included playing stick provides a powerful response when rubbed with a wet cloth to generate sound within the drum. The LP Brass Cuica comes with an adjustable shoulder strap. MSRP: $299
LP's new durian wood congas and bongos Latin Percussion also introduced the LP Durian Classic drums at NAMM 2013. These are a new series of premium congas and bongos fashioned from exotic durian fruitwood, known to Southeast Asia. With a sound similar to that of mahogany blends but 25% lighter than LP Classic Series congas made from Siam Oak.
Durian drums feature a dark, high-gloss finish and black mirror-chrome hardware, and are fitted with extended collar rims and pre-fitted slide mounts for quick, convenient setup. LP Durian Classic Series drums are available in 11 inch Quinto (MSRP: $699), 11 ¾ inch Conga (MSRP: $679) and 12 ½ inch Tumbadora (MSRP: $729). LP Durian Classic Series bongos (MSRP: $425) are fitted with 7 ¼ inch and 8 5/8 inch heads.
Jamjuree Wood Congas and Bongos Already introduced in August 2012, are the Aspire Congas and Bongos made from exotic Jamjuree wood. Sometimes called Siam Walnut, Jamjuree is 15% lighter in weight than Siam Oak.
LP Adjustable Snare Cajon and Cajon Castanets Latin Percussion's new adjustable snare cajon features a durable mdf shell with a textured seating surface to prevent slippage and a birch front plate. The snare tension can be adjusted with a single knob on the back of the cajon that is easily accessible with the right hand in a performance setting. The MSRP of the new Adjustable Snare Cajon is set at $289.
You can add an extra dimension to your cajon sound with the introduction of the new LP low-pitch and high-pitch cajon castanets, constructed of durable ABS plastic and with a unique O-ring design for rope-free tension. Available at an MSRP of $17.99 and $15.99 respectively.
LP's Sound Platform for conga Conga players now get more projection for their floor-standing drums thanks to the new LP Sound Platform, a 13 inch lightweight, wooden base with non-slip rubber base and built-in carrying handle. It fits all Latin Percussion Quintos, Congas, Tumbadoras and Super Tumbas. MSRP: $69.
LP's new Jingle Kick Latin Percussion's Jingle Kick is an alternative to the conventional bass drum beater. The durable pedal-mounted plastic jingle stick features six pairs of nickel-plated steel jingles. It provides a crisp, new sound against a bass drum or jam block. The LP Jingle Kick is available at an MSRP of $39.
New LP Guicharo The LP Guicharo is a durable, precision-molded plastic alternative to the traditional instrument fashioned from natural gourds. Every LP Guicharo features a gourd-like shape with perfectly-spaced grooves for a consistent sound. A scraper and an LP-branded padded drawstring bag are included. The LP Guicharo (LP245) is available at an MSRP of $59. The LP Guicharo scraper (LP245-S) is also available separately at an MSRP of $9.
LP's new Foot Tambourine Latin Percussion's Foot Tambourine is a new accessory that allows you to add a jingle to your beat in seconds. Simply slip the tamourine over your foot via an elastic band. The four pairs of nickel-plated jingles are held in place by a patented jingle pinning system, and are encased in a contoured ABS plastic frame. MSRP: $20
LP's New Heritage Series Cuban cowbells Latin Percussion's new Heritage Series Cuban cowbells are available as a mountable timbale bell or hand-held Salsa cowbell. Each Heritage Series Cuban Cowbell is made in the United States from premium-quality steel using specially-developed tooling. They are available at an MSRP of $59.99 for the hand-held version and $49.99 for the mountable model.
