The presentation of Jojo Mayer's omni was slightly different then the introduction of Chad Smith's Holy China at NAMM 2011. Where noise goes for Smith, Jojo Mayer's new crash/ride cymbal needs a more distinguished approach. The omni is a multi functional cymbal with a development history that has grown over the years in the heads of Jojo and the production team at Sabian in Meductic, Canada.

The starting point for the development of the omni was Sabian's El Sabor Hand Crash. Refining the production process is of major importance for the continuous development of the cymbals. Jojo talks about this process and explains what he was looking for in a crash and ride cymbal. According to Jojo it is "Basically, the first real crash/ride cymbal."
