"Cancelling shows is something that is always hard to do and we are so sorry to let our fans down but our priority is the health of our friend and getting him better."
The '80s legends, who have enjoyed a second string of success since reforming 2009, were due to perform at the Porto Ferrada and Ibiza Rocks festivals as well as a gig in Marbella.
The band's guitarist, Gary Kemp, shed some further light on the situation by stating:
"We're all devastated about having to cancel shows. John's health is paramount and we have been told today he can't play at moment. Awful."
The group will keep their fans informed of their drummer's progress and future shows as soon as more information is available.
Spandau Ballet officially formed in London 1979. The band scored hits with the likes of Gold, True, Through the Barricades, and Chant No. 1 (I Don't Need This Pressure On), before splitting in 1990.
Earning a Q Idol Award in 2009 for their impact on the musical world, the band have since reformed and played around the world.
