For the first time in 22 years drummer Alex Van Halen, and his brother and guitarist Eddie Van Halen have reunited with frontman David Lee Roth. Eddie\'s son Wolfgang Van Halen will play bass. The original members of Van Halen are back in business and promise that they\'re better than ever. The re-formed group announced a 25-date concert tour beginning September 27 in Charlotte, N.C. at a press conference.\"You know every single song, you know every guitar lick, every woo, every kick, every jump, every drum lick. We can\'t afford to shirk that duty. We plan to exceed all fans\' expectations.\"
Roth, Alex, Eddie and Wolfgang Van Halen insisted that the band\'s reunion isn\'t just a one-tour deal. David Lee Roth stated:
\"Usually, when a band comes back like us, it\'s rockers with walkers. This is not a reunion. This is a whole new band. After a US tour we\'re planning to hit Asia and Australia. Then we make an album. We have lots of dreams, lots of ambitions.\"
When asked if the band will continue their concert tradition of featuring guitar solos, drum solos and bass solos, Roth answered:
\"We decided to do everything that you expect but make it high speed, low drag. Make it modern and make it move.\"
With \"Diamond Dave\" as their flamboyant frontman, Van Halen was one of the most popular rock bands of the 1980s. But the group split up in 1985 and the original line-up hasn\'t performed together since.
Eddie\'s son Wolfgang Van Halen is replacing bassist Michael Anthony.
