Berklee professor and Meinl endorser Ralph Peterson Jr. is also added to the 2015 Meinl Drum Festival roster. Now there are only four left to go before the full ten artists are announced. Two of the new cymbals Meinl launched at NAMM this year were designed with the help of Ralph Peterson. Ralph Peterson and Meinl worked for over three years on the concept of the 22" Symmetry Ride and the 21" Nuance Ride. It is safe to assume he will be playing these cymbals on the Meinl stage on June 27 in Guttenstetten this year.
Ralph Peterson has a rich Jazz history, playing with artists like Branford Marsalis, Michael Brecker, Jon Faddis, Roy Hargrove and even alongside the Legendary Art Blakey in his two-drummer big band. In 1992, he released 'Art.' - His homage to Art Blakey. We are thrilled Meinl presents a true Jazz musician on the stage later this year.
Not only has Mr. Peterson released several albums as a band leader, it is cool to know his influence through teaching can be heard in younger generation drummers like Ari Hoenig, Justin Faulkner, Rodney Green, Vince Ector, Lyndon Rochelle and many more.
