Portishead are finally ready to begin work on the follow-up to 1997\'s eponymous album. Geoff Barrow, creative brain and beat creator behind the Bristol-based band, has brought out that Portishead are about to commence work on their third album.\"We\'re actually into it as we speak. We took some time off for Christmas, but generally we\'re doing another record. (...) We\'ve just had our heads down really, we\'ve never actually broken up, or parted, or whatever. So for us it just seems, even though we haven\'t played for years, we still see each other and write - we just haven\'t released a record for a long time.\"
Portishead have remained out of the public eye since completing the promotional duties for their 1998 live album \"NYC\", also featuring independent drummer Clive Deamer (photo).
Both Geoff Barrow and Portishead DJ Andy Smith have been working as DJs across the UK since. In 1998 Smith released a solo DJ album called \"The Document\".
