Peter Criss, original drummer for the rock band Kiss, is to be inducted as a Drum Legend by Guitar Center on Saturday, January 14.
Although Peter has kept his public appearances to a minimum for the last couple of years, he will receive the accolade after judging the grand finals of Guitar Center's annual Drum-Off competition at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles, California.
About Peter Criss The soon to be inducted drummer was born as George Peter John Criscuola in 1945.
Peter's first passion for drumming came from jazz music, when he was inspired by Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich. His rock influences include Charlie Watts, Ginger Baker, Keith Moon and John Bonham.
He joined Kiss in 1973 and soon after established the 'Catman' character for his Kiss persona.
Kiss released their self-titled debut in February 1974. Throughout his Kiss career, Peter was lead vocalist on several notable songs including Black Diamond, Hard Luck Woman, and their breakthrough hit Beth.
Peter Criss and Kiss officially parted ways on May 18, 1980. Eric Carr (real name: Paul Caravello) replaced Peter just prior to the sessions for the band's 1981 album 'Music from the Elder'.
