The duo steadfastly adheres to the practice of 'trap, neuter and return' and advocates spaying and neutering to control the overrun of felines in their region (Hillsborough County, Florida).

This policy is endorsed by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) since it is a humane and effective way to control the cat population.

The Tardy family find cats in need of health care, including sick and injured kitties. Their Metal Meowlisha works with a vet and local clinics and networks with shelters to help place the cats in loving homes.

Additionally, for the feral cats that can't really be adopted, the Metal Meowlisha still provides care for them so that they can be returned to nature and continue to live happy, healthy lives. Donald comments:

"It's kind of wild when you think about it: This crazy metal dude who head bangs and plays death metal spends hours every day feeding and caring for wild cats. It cracks me up just thinking about. But to think a cat could be out there hungry, suffering, it eats you up inside. I can't live with my mind at peace knowing that."

According to Tampa Bay Online there are around 200,000 feral cats in the Hillsborough County area.
