\"I got an email explaining that Detonation was looking for a drummer. They asked me if I was interested. I was quite busy at the time so initially I only wanted to play some live shows with them as a session drummer. They agreed, but after we had rehearsed a couple of time they insisted on recruiting me as a permanent band member, haha!\"
What\'s the main difference between your style of playing and that of Detonation\'s previous drummer Thomas Kalksma?
\"I think I am a different kind of drummer. I want to be able to play everything on a drum kit, from a to z. When I played the live set I noticed I would have come up with different parts, I would have add more variation I guess. I try to think about my parts as broad as possible with the groove and guitar riffs as a focus.\"
What are your plans for the near future?
\"Detonation has a lot of shows coming up. We\'re also writing songs for a new cd. A great challenge as I\'ll be able to play my own drum parts in stead of copying the parts from older songs.\"
You also play in Toxocara and do several session jobs. Can you tell us a bit more about that?
\"Sometimes it\'s just stepping in as live drummer for one time, other times I get asked by bands or projects without drummers, who want to record sogns in the studio. I think one of my advantages is that I learn songs very easily. I remeber a lot of songs in a short time. So if you want to hire me, please contact me through michiel@toxocara.com or via myspace.\"
