Zildjian's acoustic electric cymbal series Gen 16, a new twist that uses established technology to create essentially a completely new instrument, has been named Best in Show at Winter NAMM 2011.
Winner in the category Something Small are Latin Percussion's Finger Shot and the Qube. Also on the short list were HingeStix, patent pending practice drumsticks invented by Sam Ruttenberg (Big Bang Distributors) plus the iKlip, a multi-angle lightweight microphone stand adapter to bring your iPad on stage (made by IK Multimedia, distributed by Hal Leonard).
Nominated in the category Gotta Stock It were Paiste's relaunched Formula 602 symbal series and the Led Zeppelin Complete Lyric & Chord Songbook - including late drummer John Bonham's parts - by Alfred Publishing.
Meinl, Tycoon Percussion and Avid (the company that recently released Pro Tools 9) were named Companies to Watch.
