For the fifteenth time, more than a hundred music journalists from all over the world have voted to determine the best drum and percussion instruments of 2013/2014 of the Musikmesse International Press Award (MIPA).
These are the winners of the fifteenth annual MIPA awards and the best products according to the international music press:
Acoustic Drums: Yamaha Yamaha's Absolute Hybrid won in the category Acoustic Drums. Also nominated were Ludwig's Signet 105, and Sonor's Birch Custom Infinite Series.
Cymbals: Paiste Paiste's Masters Dark Cymbals were voted as Best Cymbals. Also nominated were Meinl's Pure Ride Cymbals and the Zildijan Kerope Series.
Accessories: Vic Firth Vic Firth Titan Sticks received the most votes in the category Accessories (for instance Drumheads/Drumsticks), leaving the Aquarian Modern Vintage II Drumheads and Remo's Silent Stroke Mesh Heads behind.
Electronic Drums: Roland In the category Electronic Drums, the Roland TM-2 Trigger Module turned out to be the winning product, beating Kat Percussion's KT3 E-Drum-Set and the Alesis Sample Pad Pro.
Percussion Instrument: Meinl Meinl's Slap Top Turbo Cajón won a MIPA award as Best Percussion Instrument. Also nominated were Latin Percussion's 50th Anniversary Congas and Pearl's Inner Circle Multi Drum.
MIPA awards ceremony at the Musikmesse More than 300 international representatives of musical instrument and audio equipment manufacturers and distributors got together at the special MIPA awards ceremony held during the Musikmesse/Prolight + Sound on Thursday, March 13th, 2014.
This proves that the MIPA Award is established as the 'Grammy' of the Musical Instrument/Pro Audio industry.
