Drummer Max Weinberg, also known as Bruce Springsteen\'s stick wielder, has announced that he won’t continue as Conan O’Brien’s bandleader when the talk show host moves to TBS in November. Max Weinberg states:\"Seventeen years — a lifetime on TV. Conan and I met on a New York City street corner in the spring of 1993 and my association with Conan, his staff, and crew has been a deeply rewarding experience for me.\"
Talk show host Conan O\'Brien responds:
\"Max has been a huge part of my life for the past 17 years and he is an incredible band leader and musician. I hope he can find time to stop by the new show, sit in with the band, and pretend to find my monologue funny.\"
Max Weinberg landed the initial O\'Brien job when he had been rocketeered as drummer in Bruce Springsteen\'s E Street Band.
Years later, Bruce Springsteen got the band back together and went on several world tours, often requiring Weinberg to juggle both jobs.
Indeed, when O\'Brien started on \'Tonight\', Max\' son Jay Weinberg filled in with the E Street band so his father could keep the NBC commitment.
