After more than two decades with the Smashing Pumpkins, drummer Jimmy Chamberlin has left the band, according to an announcement on the group’s official web site.

Drummer Jimmy was the only original member of the band — which broke up in 2000 and reformed in 2006 — to play on the recent 20th anniversary tour. He played on all their albums except \'Adore\' (1998), which featured Joey Waronker and Matt Walker on drums.
Frontman Billy Corgan will continue to write and record as Smashing Pumpkins with plans to head into the studio this spring.
