It's a new company dedicated to developing a range of acoustic and electronic drums and percussion for use in Gospel, Hip-Hop, R&B and other urban-influenced live and recorded music situations.

Drummer and company founder Jeff explains:

"Urban Percussion is more than just a new drum company, it's a whole new drum category. We have Latin, African, Brazilian, Asian and other types of drums and sounds from around the world but there's never been a term for the family of instruments that have come from our community - everything from tambourines, shakers and cowbells to turntables and beat boxes. Our goal is for 'UP' to do for urban percussionists what 'LP' has done for Latin percussionists."

While Davis and Urban Percussion are currently in the process of finalizing the administration of the company and the design of their first instruments, UP has announced that its instruments will be distributed worldwide exclusively by Kelley Percussion.
