The 2015 event was very encouraging, as IPE had a record number of units registered for championships. Although there were a few unavoidable problems on the day - including bad weather, a delayed start time, and an issue with lack of storage and dressing rooms - it was a fantastic day with a great atmosphere.

Van Gemert states:

"We have heard that some units are having to rebuild, so will not have time to train new members, as well as put a competitive programme together; and some units have advised that they will struggle to attend due to a lack of funds."

In preparation for the 2016 event, the IPE team had made arrangements to rectify the problems previously mentioned, but will now implement these improvements at the 2017 event. These improvements include an additional hall to be used for storage/changing, as well a big change of moving to the WGI judging manual.

Continues Van Gemert:

"Cancelling the event is being done as a last resort. IPE exists purely for the performers, but without a minimum of 10-12 units in competition, each bringing with them their teams of supporters; it is not financially viable to go ahead with the event."

The units that did register for 2016 are Jubal Indoor Percussion, DrumSpirit, GOT Motion, MDC Drumline Hallein, New Spirit, and Harpe Davids.
