"The death of Phil Baheux (age 45) this morning is a terrible shock to the members of the Group and the crew. We ask you to respect the privacy of his family and the group."

At the moment of writing, there is no information as to the cause of death, but more information will be reported when it becomes available.

Billy Torney of Channel Zero's record label CNR Records states:

"I cannot comment on the exact cause of death, but 45 years is obviously still very young."

Channel Zero was supposed to perform at Alcatraz Festival in Kortrijk, Belgium tonight, along with Doro, Anthrax, Exodus and Nightwish. Naturally, they have canceled the show.

Phil Baheux was a founding member of the band: he formed Channel Zero in Brussels in 1990 together with vocalist Franky De Smet-Van Damme and bassist Tino De Martino.

Their breakthrough came with the release of their album 'Unsafe' in 1994. The album featured guest vocals of Billie Milano of S.O.D. and Richard 23 of Front 242.

Channel Zero disbanded at the height of their career in 1997, but reunited in January 2010. That same year Phil and his band played at festivals including Graspop Metal Meeting, and Rock Werchter.

In 2012 Phil was invited to perform at Adams Drummers Festival in Diest, where he shared the stage with Gavin Harrison, Nicko McBrain and the Appice Brothers (Carmine and Vinnie Appice), among other artists.

A new album was in the planning together with new guitarist Mikey Doling, but it's not sure what will happen now.
