American rock drummer Chuck Ruff passed away in San Francisco, California on October 14 after a long illness, which ended with a surgery and a subsequent coma. He died at the age of 60."I lost one of my old bandmates, Chuck Ruff, [on Friday]. Chuck was my drummer on ‘Danger Zone’ and ‘Street Machine’ and many many live tours together. I have only memories of great times and great music with Chuck. My condolences to his family, friends and loved ones."
Ruff was born in Reno in 1951 and, between then and 1962, his family traveled between Reno and the Bay Area before finally settling permanently in Reno.
Over the years, he also played with the groups Sawbuck, The Michael Furlong Band, The Max Volume Band and Adam Bomb.
