Before signing over his drum kit, Horacio layed down one final groove in a jam with seasoned jazz drummer and vibraphonist Chuck Redd, who played Lionel Hampton's vibraphone for the first time since being donated in 2001. Watch the video below:
As part of Jazz Appreciation Month, jazz master Randy Weston (87), gave an embroidered African robe and hat to the Smithsonian Museum of American History. He wore them when the King of Morocco honored him for five decades of compositions highlighting the links between African music and jazz.
