Unfortunately for the drummer, the bidding officially ended without a single person trying to take home the set. His failed attempt to make some extra cash has come at an even greater cost: Kevin is no longer in the band.

The editor-in-chief for 'music appreciation blog' Fucking Nostalgic discovered an e-mail exchange between Kevin Fennell and Robert Pollard, the singer-songwriter, leader and creative force behind Guided By Voices.

The page has been removed since, but allegedly, Kevin claims to have given up two full-time job offers so that he could be a part of the Guided by Voices classic line-up reunion, which began in 2010. But the band's recent live inactivity has taken a toll on his finances.

In response, the Guided By Voices frontman says the drummer has made a fool of himself by his asking price, adding:

"Most people would like to know who the fuck you think you are and who you think Guided By Voices is that you can warrant that kind of asking price for your fucking drums. (...) You don't have to ask for my permission to sell your shit but you do my friend, have to ask permission to use the name Guided By Voices as I own it."
