"During a lesson at the College of Music in Pitea, I met producer Andreas Dahlbäck, who told me Sony Music searched for a new drummer for Glasvegas. I submitted some dvds on which I play and some other material.
Before I knew it, I met the band during the recording of a new album in London. I had prepared myself to play for the band, but they had apparently already decided. They mostly just wanted to meet me."
To NME magazine frontman James Allan explains that the reason the band’s former drummer, Caroline McKay, left in March was due to the pressure of being in a band:
"It was probably me saying, 'Hit this drum, hit that drum'. Doing a demo, getting gigs, doing a demo, doing another demo then a record in New York, then it's playing at Wembley with U2, Glastonbury ... she never asked for any of that. Everybody's cool with each other. Caroline could have stayed and taken the money, but she left."
James Allan also reveals how Jonna Löfgren was recruited. James:
"Our guitarist Rab said, 'I want a drummer, I want a woman, I want her to be Swedish.' Two days later this girl turns up – the label in Sweden knew about her. I went from being embarrassed about Rab to, 'What a fucking genius'."
Joana will be playing with the band as they head out on a special tour of Scotland in January.
