\"25 years Slagwerkkrant! Man, time flies and so much has happened in these years! In 1982, Benno Boeters, Marcel Willemsen and myself, decided to create a small edition with some drum news. We put up an ad in two drum stores in Amsterdam and the responses were already good.
In December 1982, our zero edition had 150 copies. Slagwerkkrant 1 to 4 had 500 copies, and edition 5 already 1,000. Currently the magazine\'s issues have a circulation of 11,500 and are distributed in The Netherlands and Belgium.\"
Our first cover has Dutch drummer Cesar Zuiderwijk on it. World wide probably best know as the drummer of the Rock band Golden Earring with their global hit Radar Love. This is December 1982.
March 1983, our issue #1 is printed. From then on Slagwerkkrant has five editions a year, later it becomes a bimonthly production. Dutch percussionist Nippy Noya is on the cover of this edition.
In our second edition (July 1983) we cover the amazing self-made drums of De Div.
Around Slagwerkkrant number 3 (September 1983), we organized our first Drum Festival. Motel Bokassa is the main act and headlines the magazine.
Our fourth edition had its first interview with international top drummer Simon Phillips. Simon was 26 at the time, and from that moment on he is regularly interviewed and special guest/performer at clinics we organize. (November 1983)
We are happy to give the first editions of Slagwerkkrant to the Members of Drummerszone.com. Although they are in our unreadable Dutch language for most of her visitors, it must be fun for everybody to see how we started this magazine. Our anniversary edition, with Neil Peart on the cover, is 120 pages and still growing.\"
