Instead of playing a Glastonbury festival, Thomson left home to witness the birth of his son Georgie.
Franz Ferdinand\'s lead singer, Alex Karpanos, announced the news at the gig. The group called in the help of Paul\'s own drum technician, Alan Johnston, and former Fall drummer Nick Dewey.
Thomson\'s wife Esther, the lead singer of Cash Machine, and their newborn son are doing well.
