A series of new courses and special events will be offered this year.

All are taught by high-profile artist/teachers, both online and at The Collective\'s Greenwich Village Manhattan campus, located at 541 Avenue of the Americas.

As part of the expanded curriculum, The Collective will be organizing a number of new pro-level performance ensembles made up entirely of members of their student body, giving students the opportunity to perform on a high level outside of the school environment.

Kick-off by Steve Smith
The kick-off event, to be held on Monday, February 15th, at 7pm, will be a pro rhythm section master class, taught by Steve Smith and the members of Vital Information. The NYC edition of the group will feature Steve Smith (drums), Mark Soskin (keyboards), Vinny Valentino (guitar), Baron Browne (bass) and Andy Fusco (sax). This event will be open to the public and tickets are $25.

In addition, The Collective is announcing a special four-class course with world-renowned guitarist, Wayne Krantz. The course will be based on Krantz\'s book, \'An Improviser\'s OS\', which lays out his unique approach to improvising. This course will have a limited enrollment. Classes are scheduled to begin in April.

The Collective is accredited through the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). The mission of The Collective is to prepare their students for careers as top quality professional contemporary musicians by offering a structured curriculum which focuses on developing the highest level of musicianship and which provides the technical, conceptual, and performance-oriented training necessary for artistic and commercial success.

Founded in 1977, The Drummers Collective is a world-class learning center for drumset players and percussionists. Programs of study range from part-time weekly or bi-weekly private lessons, to 10-week to 2-year comprehensive full-time study programs. Small group sessions and private lessons are taught by some of the most respected players in the music community. Faculty members include Chris Coleman, Marko Djordjevic, Jason Gianni, Pat Petrillo, nad Kim Plainfield.
