Thus the company added Mountain Rhythm’s Dream cymbal range to their catalogue. Initially available in two distinct styles, the company says at least one Dream cymbal will be a must for any serious artist! Dream Cymbals are completely manufactured in the Wuhan province of China. The two Dream series - Bliss and Contact - are both available through eDRUM in the UK.
Bliss Series: Dark, exotic, complex and lush The Bliss series is a totally hand-shaped and hand-hammered range of cymbals manufactured from b20 bronze. The heavy hammering and light lathing that feature in their construction result in a dark, exotic sound, with defined attack and roaring undertones – a fine blend of Chinese ancestry and Turkish inspiration.
The entire range of Bliss cymbals are relatively light and have often been compared favourably to the Istanbul K cymbals of the 30s and 40s. This makes them popular with jazz players but this cymbal is also ideal for other players who require something that compliments and blends with other instruments.
The Bliss range consists of:
10” splash,
12” splash,
14” hi-hats,
14” crash,
16” crash/ride,
18” crash/ride,
20” crash/ride and
22” ride.
Prices range from £35 for a 10” splash to £119 for a 22” ride, with hi-hats coming in at £99. A 24” half-cup ride is also available.
Contact Series: Full, rich and responsive – a great all-purpose cymbal Manufactured from B23 bronze with heavy hammering and lathing, the Contact series offers more traditional Western-style cymbals. This manufacture, combined with their medium weight and large bells, make the Contacts very responsive cymbals that open fully at the lightest touch.
Contacts are very rich and full sounding cymbals. While the range remains dark and musical, they have an added cut and presence, which makes them best compared to the US-made A Zildjians of the 60s. They are extremely versatile, and are suitable for a wide range of applications.
The Contact range consists of:
10” splash,
12” splash,
14” hi-hats,
14” crash,
16” crash/ride,
18” crash/ride,
20” crash/ride
22” ride.
Prices range from £35 for a 10” splash to £139 for a 22” ride, with hi-hats coming in at £109. The 24” half-cup ride is also available in this series.
