Based on the enthusiastic response from attendees of last year's Drum! Night drumming festival, the editors of Drum! Magazine increased the number of pre-show gear exhibits for the 2013 event, which will take place at the Repertory Theatre in San Jose, California on Friday, August 9.
While the clinics and performances by Chad Smith, Cindy Blackman-Santana, Jason Bittner, and Street Drum Corps begin at 6:30 pm, the doors of the San Jose Repertory Theatre will open to ticketholders at 5:00 pm for the pre-show expo.
All ticketholders will get the chance to test the latest and greatest instruments from some of the leading brands and products in the drum and percussion industry, including Black Widow, Craviotto, Evans Drumheads, Gibraltar, Gretsch Drums, Latin Percussion (LP), Pearl Drums, Remo Percussion, Sabian, Thumper Custom Drums, Yamaha's electronic percussion, and Zildjian's Gen16.
Benefit raffle Buy tickets as soon as you get to the show to be in the running for a brand new drum kit with Gretsch Renown drums, Sabian Xs20 cymbals, Gibraltar hardware, and LP drum set add-ons with a total retail value of $4,530 USD. Tickets are $1 apiece, and all proceeds go to the Lincoln High School Music Program.
About Drum! Night In 2010 the editors of Drum! Magazine staged the first Drum! Night festival (originally known as Rhythm Night) as a fundraiser for Richie Hayward, the late drummer for Little Feat, who died of liver cancer the night before the benefit show. Nonetheless, drummers from throughout the West Coast came together to raise much-needed funds for Hayward's family, and the drum! Night tradition was born.
Since then Drum! Night has featured many top performers in the drumming field, including David Garibaldi, Terry Bozzio, Thomas Lang, Kenny Aronoff, Thomas Pridgen, Marco Minnemann, Cora Dunham, Tim Yeung, and Raul Rekow and Karl Perazzo.
