Ddrum showed plenty of new stuff at the Winter NAMM 2013 Show in Anaheim, California. Ddrum's new gear at the music trade show included the Paladin series in new configurations and new colors plus new additions to Ddrum's Reflex line that are made of versatile alder wood.
Aldertone Alder has been used to build guitars since the 1950s and Ddrum is now the first to build drum shells from this wood. They call the sound Aldertone and describe it as warm, focused and 'naturally equalized'.
Paladin Maple The new configurations for the Paladin Maple line include a four-piece Rock configuration with a 24" kickdrum, a six-piece High Boy configuration with three racktoms in sizes (10, 12 and 14" plus one 16" floor tom and a 22" kick drum. Until now Ddrum never had a true fusion kit before, but the Paladin Maple Fusion set-up has filled that void and comes with a 14" floortom and a 20" kickdrum.
New finishes for this line are Satin Zombie Green, Blue Spark (co-developed with Donald J. Bonebrake of punk rock band X) and Vintage Coral Sparkle.
Paladin Walnut When low end and dark tone is called for, Paladin Walnut fits the bill. New in this range is Ddrum's four-piece Paladin Speakeasy bop kit with a natural finish and black chrome hardware. Along with the Paladin Maple Fusion kit, it shows Ddrum's efforts to expand in more genres of music such as jazz.
Vintone Arbor snares Ddrum also showed a revamped line of snare drums and premiered with the new Vintone Arbor series. The Vintone snares offer a certain vintage style and tone. Options include custom bearing edges and shells from maple, walut, mahogany, cherry and alder.
