Dan Duggins is in Staten Island University Medical Center. The Richmond, Virginia, native was en route to a gig on Staten Island and complained of severe pain in his head. His bandmates took him to SIMC, where he suffered a stroke after being admitted.
Originally in what is known as a \"locked in\" state — aware of his circumstances but unable to move and to communicate, except with eye movement — Dan Duggins has since moved his foot and head and started breathing on his own for several days before being placed back on the respirator.
Once stabilized, he will be moved near family in Richmond to begin the long road to recovery.
Dan is a well-loved figure in the New York music community. Like most full-time musicians, he does not have health insurance. His medical bills and living expenses during and after this are sure to be extremely costly.
If you wish to offer desperately needed financial support in any amount, please feel free to do so through a special Paypal account set up by his family: dandugginstrust@gmail.com. Checks and well wishes can be sent to Stephen Duggins, 1611 Olde Coalmine Road, Midlothian, VA 23113.
Drummerszone wishes Dan a quick and full recovery!
