Late February, Jerry Gaskill, the 54-year-old drummer and vocalist for progressive rock band King's X, suffered a heart attack. He had to be hospitalized for quite some time.
To help offset the drummer's mounting medical expenses, several Nashville percussionists have banded together for a benefit, initiated by Tom Hurst, one of the most experienced percussion educators and performers in the Nashville area.
'Loud Jams: David Parks' Nashville Drummers Jam' will be a musical event to assist with Jerry's medical expenses.
Among the confirmed 'groove machines' are Jim Riley, David Northrup, David "Golden Glove" Parks, Keio Stroud, and Pat McDonald.
The benefit wil take place on Monday June 11, 2012 at Douglas Corner, 2106 8th Ave., South Nashville. Tickets will be $5.00 at the door.
