Drummerszone.com had the opportunity to interview Steve Gadd during Zildjian's 'Mission from Gadd'-tour in Europe. Just arriving from Paris where he had another clinic the day before, Steve had to be on stage within the hour after the interview. Talking about devotion and hard work. And he remains to do so, for more than 40 years in the music industry now. The videos with this article even show beyond all that. Steve is more than inspiring and his drumming always proves he is still top of the bill.

"Make the music the best it can be"
Talking with Steve is, besides the honor, a truly inspiring time. Of course, he loves to talk about drums, but he still is that legendary musician for whom the music always remains the center where all musicians circle around, in an agreement of all the players on keeping time, the groove and the dynamics. In his own words: "Let the music dictate what you play."
When with Steve, there is no artist ego clouding the room. Better said, he is an open, humble and grateful artist who feels blessed in his live and work he maintains to do for so many years now. Perhaps that is the reason why he still is a major inspiration for most of the drummers on this planet, and maybe the best lesson to learn from the videos below.
Enough said. Time to meet the personality and listen, learn and watch the doctor at work...
All videos contain interview fragments and live footage. Total running time videos: approx. 18 minutes. If you hear music noice in the back; that is Todd Sucherman performing!
