Besides being the lead single for the album, Late in the Evening is among drummers best known for the Mozambique based rhythm that Steve Gadd plays - with two pairs of drumsticks. Steve explains, plays and gives a two-minute drumsolo based on the famous rhythm.

Rhythmic Variations
Then he elaborates on the sticking he uses with some flams, which he calls slight variations. Again, he demos the technique slowly on the drum hoops, and takes off on the cowbell at a much faster tempo.

It is an interesting lesson here: he teaches the fact that the bass drum naturally wants to follow the right hand. And that is just what he does in the video below.
